Melissa, until this discussion I’d never thought of ordering Dover books. I usually find them at Cracker Barrel or somewhere similar, but that’s a great idea to get them for research! And the microscope slides…another item we never have enough of. Great ideas.

Here’s my “hacks”: (Before I had prime) I kept a separate wishlist on Amazon for just this purpose. So whenever I was browsing and found something low price that I didn’t need right then, I’d put it in that wishlist and then when I did need a few dollars for shipping, I could go there and it made the decision much quicker! I named the wishlist “Stuff to throw in the cart”

Plus any homeschool book that I have on my want list, so I can have an excuse to buy it before the kids get to it and I can oooo and awwww over it. 🙂 I’m nerdy like that. 🙂

Dover coloring books (which you mention) are good for historical research too! The costume ones from historical eras describe every flounce.
