And it is hard for the far-away aunts to see how quickly their beloved nieces and nephews grow up. One day they’re babies, the next they are talking in complete sentences on the phone. I have over a dozen nieces and nephews and they are all so precious to me for just the reasons you say. I also grew up with wonderful aunts and uncles and still have many of them in my life. They’ve only become more special as I get older.

And cousins? What a great idea THAT was! I love all of mine––first, second, once removed, and by law––and treasure the childhood memories we share.

I can remember the hours and hours of fun I had with my cousins at my grandparents house! Such wonderful memories. It’s sad to me how we’ve grown apart as we’ve aged.
